At Podder we are constantly trying to improve our services, but we want to do it in a way that we can give back to the community and be more ethically aware especially when considering sustainability and being conscious of the environment. We wanted to give you more insight into the ways we are trying to combat climate change.
We have committed ourselves to plant a red mangrove tree on your name in the Natuna islands in Indonesia for every purchase. We’ll give you coordinates and take care of it for the next 5 years. You’ll receive regular updates in the form of photos of the tree after the first year and the last (5th year) and will provide a certificate with your name. This will be shareable on social media too!
Why is this so important?
The Kekah Natuna Monkey is a rare animal which is risking extinction they are usually found within Mangrove forests. They live in primary and secondary forests, mangroves, and mixed-gardens, and so the forest is a safe place for them where food and homes are all in one place. Sadly, these are not protected areas and their existence has been threatened due to illegal logging and forest clearing. So, by planting red mangrove trees this helps them thrive in better living conditions. (https://www.treebuddy.earth/news)
We contribute 1.5% of what you give us to removing CO₂ emissions from the atmosphere
How does removing carbon as you grow your business sound? We direct a fraction (1.5%) of your purchase value to help scale emerging carbon removal technologies.
This will help scale emerging carbon removal technologies and change the course of carbon removal. “To affect the most catastrophic effects of climate change global average temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, which corresponds to reducing global annual CO₂ emissions from about 40 gigatons per year as of 2018, to net zero by 2050.” (https://stripe.com/en-bg/climate) The goal is to radically reduce the new emissions put into the air and remove carbon which is already in the air. This is so important as the planet depends on it as it will stop increasing temperatures, rising sea levels and melting sea ice. But these are not the only factors affected by carbon, there are more factors that affect public health, and affect plants and animal diversity amongst many other damaging factors.
We believe these are so crucial to making a difference to our planet and environment. We are so proud to be doing our part in making small changes to make impacting results and will strive to continue making a difference not just to our customers and Podcasters but also to our external environment and community!
